Today we celebrated someone's 32nd birthday. Weather was picture perfect, trees in full bloom, birds chirping....
I have a stash of these birthday matchboxes handy - you just take a Sharpie and mark off the right numbers, viola!
We did a river cruise from Regensburg to Walhalla, started at 10.30 and got to Donaustauf/Walhalla an hour later.
The boat stops right below the famous Walhalla, after a 20 minute hike we were up and had a breathtaking view.On the next mountaintop lies a beautiful ruin of Donaustauf, a castle going back over 1000 years. It's absolutely gorgeous, and perfect for a nice picknick with some freshly baked cake and some red wine...

Walhalla looks pretty impressive, actually it is only two inches wide - as you can see in the photo! This is Walhalla - the German "hall of fame", honoring such famous Germans as The Scorpions, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Milli Vanilli (just kidding!!).
We finished the day off (and ourselves) with a few beers and Schnitzel at the Spitalgarten. It's a very popular beergarden, right by the Danube.

And then we can finally read the sign:
