Tuba Terror in Kelheim!!

We've been to Kelheim before - here's some earlier visit: http://post-canadian.blogspot.com/2007/01/kelheim-and-altmuehltal.html

Ever since I experienced the impressive liberation hall in Kelheim I tried to convince my brother Phil to bring his Tuba along an do a little sound check. Two weeks ago it finally worked out. We snuck into the hall and he unpacked his instrument.

WHOA! The sound was just absolutely enormous. The deep fat tuba sound reverberated and echoed through these holy halls. It was magnificent.

And Phil had a blast. Everytime he stopped playing the sound continued for a good few seconds - almost as if it were playback.

I was a little worried wether we'd get kicked out, but no trouble at all. The staff and all the other visitors enjoyed the show.

Schloss Pruefening

Today we visited Schloss Pruefening in the western part of Regensburg. It was actually a monastery and later converted into a castle by the Thurn & Taxis family. The castle is now used as a Montessori school. Beautiful beer garden directly by.
