We've kept quite busy, and we'll catch up with some interesting posts.
Lindau at Lake Constance (Bodensee)
Last December we travelled to Milano in Italy - and when I checked the route I noticed that the train is stopping in Lindau, a little town on a small island within Lake Constance.
There is a good Wikipedia article on Lindau.
The german railways offer a "nice weekend ticket" - for 35 EUR you can travel anywhere, with up to five people, with any regional train (not the ICE or IC trains though). So, I got us that ticket and we headed off to Lindau by train. After a quick stopover in Munich we arrived in Lindau in the afternoon and started exploring this little island.
It got a very cute little harbour and a charming old city centre. There's a few hotels right on the island which are quite affordable (at least off season).

The night scenery is very charming as well - especially after a nice meal.
Be careful though - the lights at the harbour are turned off at 10pm (I was a few minutes too late when I went for my other camera...)

We really loved this place - we'll come back here in the summer time...
